Although Sémillon is grown in 19 of California’s 58 counties, its best premium expressions are concentrated in four spots:  Lake County, Napa Valley, Yuba County, and Sonoma County. Given the historic and viticultural challenges, producers who are committed to quality are the state’s focus. Plantings of fewer than 243 ha/600 acres in the ground are a testament to the dedication of those who are invested in growing and vinifying this grape variety.
